Ephesians 4:3 - Giving diligence to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the
bond of peace,

Diligence is a word that is often used in the Bible, and is a word
associated with discipline and focus. Unfortunately, many may be diligent
and focused with respect to academics, business, athletics, etc; but as
soon as the same kind of disciplines are applied to walking with the Lord,
and doing those things that our Heavenly Father has called us to do,
diligence is then labeled as "religious". That ploy should be easily
discerned. Being diligent about the things of God is evidence that you are
being led by the Holy Spirit and seeking those things which are above
instead of those which is earthly (Matthew 6:33; Colossians 3:1-2; 1
Corinthians 15:10).

Only by yielding ourselves to the miracle work of the Holy Spirit are we
able to have unity with God and one another. (John 17:21-23; Ephesians 4:4;
1 Corinthians 1:10). The oneness or unity of the Spirit has been provided
for the believers through salvation and baptism in the Holy Spirit. If the
church is going to function properly, we must be diligent and guard against
anything that would oppose oneness. When anyone begins to function outside
of humility, meekness, longsuffering, forbearance, and love, they have
stepped outside of the will of God and begin to violate the body and person
of Christ Jesus.

It is our responsibility to guard ourselves against the snares and the
temptations of the devil that would lead us astray into self-exaltation and
strife. Demonic manifestations that are directly opposed to the unity of
the Spirit are: strife, envy, and divisions (James 3:16). We must
understand that it is the strategy of Satan to prevent -and even STOP- the
unity that is essential for the body of Christ to function properly (1
Corinthians 1:10, 12:12-27; Romans 12:16; Philippians 3:16). Therefore, it
is essential for us to be diligent to resist every contrary thing that
opposes the ways of God, and submit to lowliness and meekness (James 4:6-7).

The oneness that has been granted to us is primarily oneness with the Holy
Spirit, the Lord Jesus Christ, and God the Father. Then, as a result of
oneness with God, we may have oneness with one another. In this divine
disposition, the Church functions in such a way that Christ Jesus is
revealed through the operation of the Holy Spirit in each member of the
body (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). We must allow the Holy Spirit to baptize us
into the Body of Christ every time we assemble ourselves together (1
Corinthians 12:13). The Church is the fullness of God; but unless we
participate with God, the glory of His fullness is never realized or
witnessed (Ephesians 1:17-23).

The will of God is for the arresting power of His love be manifested in our
fellowship with each other. His love will produce oneness; and, by this,
all men will know that we are His disciples, and that Christ Jesus is Who
He said He is (John 13:35, 17:23). The Kingdom of the Lord Jesus is
witnessed by righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans
14:17). If the demonstration of the Kingdom of God is going to be
manifested in our assemblies, then we must be diligent allow righteousness,
peace, and joy to reign in all our emotions and conduct (2 Peter 1:3-11;
Galatians 5:25). The rivers of God's Presence would flow through us to
reveal the nature and disposition of Christ Jesus in all the splendor of
His servitude and humility (1 John 3:16, 2:6; John 7:38). The reign of
peace will calm every storm, His joy will refresh and strengthen every
soul, and the righteousness of all His goodness will produce days of Heaven
in the midst of His people -the Church! (Isaiah 32:17; Psalm 107:28-30;
Mark 4:39; Luke 8:24; Romans 15:32-33; Nehemiah 8:10; Colossians 1:9-29; 2
Thessalonians 1:11-12; Deuteronomy 11:21; Ephesians 1:22-23, 3:16-21)
