Daily Bread – October 17, 2023 (The Third Day – Genesis 1:9-13) Ephesians 1:22 – …and has placed all things under His feet, and appointed Him the head over all the Church. The Holy Spirit Reveals Jesus In The Church Jesus established the leadership and authority in the Church so His people could be trained up in all of His ways and learn to function in this unspeakable gift (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12:28; Acts 20:28; Matthew 18:17; 1 Timothy 3:5). Through this holy interaction with the Holy Spirit in the context of the Church, we are the body of Christ and members of His body functioning in various supernatural gifts by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). If the Church community refuses to recognize and submit itself to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, then God’s people are deprived of all that the Holy Spirit would do. And as a result, the Church is incapable of functioning as the body of Christ – and Jesus will not be revealed (Ephesians 4:16; Colossians 2:19; James 5:14). The Church began when about 120 people had gathered together to wait on the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit was poured out is when the Church was born. There is no model for the Church other than what was set forth at its birth in the Book of Acts. It is essential that we give the Holy Spirit His proper place and understand how we cannot be witnesses of Jesus without His work. The Holy Spirit must be allowed to take over our meetings as He did in the first Church meeting if the Church is to function as it was ordained to. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal Jesus, and if He is not given full control, then what God ordained cannot function. Just as the body is dead without the spirit, the Church is dead without the Holy Spirit. Blessings, Pastor Mark Spitsbergen
