Daily Bread – December 16, 2023 (The Seventh Day – Genesis 2:1-3) Mark 16:20 – And they went out everywhere, preaching, the Lord working with them and establishing the Word through the miracles that followed. Amen! God’s Passion To Reach The Lost There are a number of reasons why God does miracles for us, but more than anything else, He does them to convince the lost of His love and presence. This does not undervalue the fact that He, as a loving Father, continually performs miracles of provision and protection for His people. Yet, when we consider how the consequence of the lost not coming to the knowledge of salvation is an eternity without God, we can surely understand His passion to reach them. The lost will only be converted by the preaching of the Word (Romans 1:16, 10:14; 1 Corinthians 1:18, 21). The Word preached brings men to the knowledge of salvation. Through the faith and revelation that comes by proclaiming the Word of God, the Spirit of God comes upon those who will believe and transforms each one into a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17; John 3:3-6; Titus 3:5). The Gospel, therefore, is designed to be preached with power and the demonstration of the Spirit – for many will not believe unless they see the miracles (John 2:11,23, 4:48, 7:31; 1 Corinthians 2:4; Acts 8:6).
