Daily Bread – April 5, 2022 (The Third Day – Genesis 1:9-13) Romans 1:17 – For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; even as it has been written, “But the righteous shall live by faith”. The Outworking of Faith Faith finds its outworking in our lives through obedience to the Word of God. Our obedience to the Word expresses our confidence and trust in God. We live by the faith that comes from the Word of God, which supplies us with the knowledge of the will of God (Deuteronomy 8:3; Luke 4:4; Habakkuk 2:4; Galatians 3:5; Hebrews 10:38). If we refuse to live by the Word, then it is not possible for us to live by faith; for faith both comes from the Word of God and is demonstrated by obedience to the Word of God, just as it was with Abraham (James 2:20-26; Matthew 8:8-10). When we hear the Word of God, a powerful and living operation of the Holy Spirit stands ready to create in us the miracle of faith. The first miracle faith produced in us was the miracle of salvation when the Word of God was believed (Romans 10:8-15). Subsequently, everything else that is supplied to us by God is received in the same way. The heart that will hear the promises of God and will respond in obedience will receive those things the Holy Spirit Himself is ready to produce. Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6)! We must be seekers of God and obedient children – not fashioning ourselves after the world and its lust; but instead, be those who follow the Holy Spirit (1 Peter 1:14; Ephesians 5:1; Romans 8:14). We must be willing to both hear the promises of God and being fully persuaded of them, then obey from the heart what God has said – receiving the miracles faith supplies (Romans 2:13, 4:20-22; Hebrews 11:6; Matthew 7:21; Luke 8:21). When the Word of God is mixed with faith in them who hear it, then it will produce the spectacular wonders of all God’s benefits and good pleasures. Today, allow the Word of God and the fellowship of the Spirit to produce in you “faith in God” – and be numbered among His friends (Mark 11:22; James 2:23; Galatians 2:20).
