Daily Bread – May 19, 2023 (The Sixth Day – Genesis 1:24-31) Matthew 9:35-38 – And Jesus went about all of the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues and announcing the good news of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. And seeing the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were faint and cast aside as sheep who have no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is indeed great, but the workmen are few. Therefore, beseech the Lord of the harvest that He may send out workmen into the harvest.” This is a summary statement of the ministry of Jesus. To have written about every person that was healed in Jesus’ ministry would be so voluminous no one could express it better than John did when he said, “But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written” (John 21:25). Those miracles that are highlighted in the Gospels serve as special examples of His ministry. The ministry of Jesus targeted every city, every village, and every sick and diseased person. The ministry model Jesus gave to us consisted of teaching, preaching, and healing. Today, those of us who are anointed of God live under the same mandate and command to go into all of the world (every city and every town) and teach, preach, and heal – thus proclaiming the light of the glorious Gospel of the Kingdom of God (Matthew 10:7-8, 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18; Luke 10:1-9; Romans 15:19).
