Daily Bread – July 20, 2022 (The Fourth Day – Genesis 1:14-19) John 14:22-23 – Judas said to Him, not Iscariot, “Lord, what has happened that You are about to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word, and My Father will love him, and We shall come to him and make Our dwelling place with him.” The opening statement of Jesus in this chapter states how He was “going away to prepare a dwelling place” for His disciples in the Father’s house (John 14:1-3). But at the same time, Jesus had also made a way for the disciples to be a dwelling place for the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Himself. The fact that we are in Christ and He is in us is declared in excess of one hundred times in the New Testament. The context of this chapter and many others reveal to us that, when the Holy Spirit comes to dwell on the inside of us, so does the Father and the Son. As a result of this unspeakable gift, we become one with the Father and the Lord Jesus – just as the Father and Jesus are one. Blessings, Pastor Mark Spitsbergen
