Why was the TOT created?
Dr. Mark Spitsbergen began this translation out of a desire to provide English readers with a Bible that reflects the historic textual tradition of the Church through a careful, literal translation of Scripture. The result is decades of study brought together in one volume for personal devotion, teaching, and serious biblical study.
HISTORIC TEXTUAL BASIS
The New Testament is translated exclusively from the Byzantine Text Type, the Textus Receptus, and the Peshitta-textual traditions that have served as the foundation of the Church for nearly two millennia.
LITERAL TRANSLATION
In contrast to most modern translations that rely on the Alexandrian Text Type and thought-for-thought methods, this work offers a clear, word-for-word rendering intended to reflect exactly what God has spoken.
INCLUDES
The New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs in a single volume.
Psalms and Proverbs are translated directly from the Hebrew Masoretic Text, maintaining the structure and verse numbering of the original.
