Email from Abiding Place Daily Bread – October 9, 2024 (The Fourth Day – Genesis 1:14-19) Galatians 3:16 – Now to Abraham were the promises made and to his seed. He does not say, “and to the seeds,” as of many, but as from one, “and to your Seed,” Who is Christ. Everything Abraham did and everything that God was working in his life was to bring about the one Seed “Jesus” (Galatians 3:16). Jesus is both the heir and the inheritance. Jesus is both the means to life in God and the inheritance that each one who believes receives. And because we are made one with Jesus, we too become Abraham’s offspring because we are born into the oneness with the seed, Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26-29). Jesus, as the Son of God, was the sole heir of everything promised to Abraham. Jesus is also the sole representative for every person who will believe, even as Adam was for the whole human race. The law could never make us heirs to God. It was essential that we be born of God – a birth that is only possible through the seed, Christ Jesus. Jesus was born of a woman, being the seed of Abraham and the lineage of David, and born under the governorship of the Law (Galatians 4:4, 3:16; Romans 9:5; 1:3) When God promised Abraham a “seed” Abraham believed and it was accounted to him for righteousness (Genesis 15:6). Paul points out how God did not say “seeds” as referring to many descendants, but rather one “Seed”, referring to Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:16). Abraham heard the report from God of the One Who would come and redeem him, and he believed (John 8:56; Galatians 3:19; Romans 4:13). The law was only added until the Seed could come and change the hearts of men. When the heart is changed, we do the things the Law described concerning the nature of God and His ways by virtue of having a new nature (Romans 8:4; 2 Corinthians 3:3-6). Believing in the Redeemer Who God has provided for all humanity will result in a miracle. When you will believe in God’s great love for you and simply call on the Name of Jesus, God will change you. He will not force you, but if you desire to have the life only He can impart and the relationship that comes through the new creation, then all you have to do is believe God’s report concerning His Son (Galatians 3:21, 6:15; 1 John 5:11-12). Now righteousness is not just imputed, but also imparted because Christ Jesus lives within us by the Spirit of Holiness He has imparted (1 John 3:24; Colossians 1:27; John 14:17-23, 17:21-23).
