Daily Bread 12/9/2023

Daily Bread – December 9, 2023 (The Seventh Day – Genesis 2:1-3) Colossians 3:2 – Set your affection on things that are above, not on things of this Earth. Proper Focus Yields Proper Fruit Although the things of the Heavenly realm are free, they are not cheap. We must be willing to grow in all God has made available as a free gift to everyone. If we do not give ourselves to the things of the Spirit to be developed in all of the gifts and blessings of God, then the free gift will never become of any real value and meaning to our lives. We should give more attention to the opportunities God has made available to us than we would to the great efforts we put into academics, or climbing the corporate ladder, or any other pursuit. The Lord Jesus desires for us to do His works and greater works (John 14:12). He has called us with a Heavenly calling, and wants to give us a Heavenly vision (Matthew 6:19-21,33, 28:18-20). He has brought us to a place in Himself that we might be seated together with Him in the Heavenly realm (Ephesians 2:6; Romans 5:17). Let’s begin today with a deeper commitment to give ourselves to the realms of the Spirit, to mind spiritual things, and to make God’s plan and vision for our lives the most important aspect of our daily goals. Let us give ourselves to truly living by the Word (that means being a doer of the Word – Matthew 7:24-27; James 1:22). Let’s give ourselves to the kind of ministry Jesus modeled for us and called us to follow Him in doing. If we will do these things, then we will be the people Father desires to be representative of Him and His Kingdom on this Earth. We have a greater opportunity today than Joseph or Daniel had in their time. They both were the best at what they did vocationally and academically – but, first and foremost, they were also developed in the things of the Spirit where they could receive visions, the word of knowledge, and move in the faith that stopped the mouths of lions! (Genesis 37:1-36, 40:1-41:51 and Daniel 2:19-49, 4:8-37, 5:11-31, 6:1-28) Blessings, Pastor Mark Spitsbergen
