Romans 1:17 – For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; even as it has been written, “But the righteous shall live by faith”.

Part 1 ~ Righteousness By Faith

Righteousness by faith was first mentioned in Genesis 15:6 and modeled for us by a man who obeyed God at any cost; who, when he heard the Word of God, stepped out doing whatever was commanded of him. Abraham did not receive the promises of God by merit, but by simple obedience. He was willing to believe God would bless him and freely give him a great inheritance if he was willing to follow (Romans 4).

Faith is believing in the love and goodness of the One Who created us, and trusting Him for all we need. Faith is accepting those things God has promised as already done (Romans 4:17-22). If we are going to live by faith, then we will trust that all of our acceptance is found in Christ Jesus alone. He is a faithful and just High Priest Who forever lives to make intercession for us – Who also keeps us and will present us faultless on that day (Romans 3:24; Hebrews 7:25; 1 Peter 1:5; Jude 1:24; Colossians 1:22). If you want to have true righteousness – the only kind that is acceptable to God – then it must be the righteousness that comes by faith in what Jesus has done for us.
