Daily Bread – March 16, 2022 (The Fourth Day – Genesis 1:14-19) Matthew 14:31 – And Jesus immediately stretched out His hand and took hold of him saying, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Of the many miracles Jesus performed, walking on the water has to be one of the most outstanding. Jesus demonstrated His authority over the physical realm, and showed how faith is superior to all the laws of nature. Jesus, willing to make anyone who desires to be part of the miraculous realm of faith, responded to Peter’s request, and invited him to come and walk on the water, too. Peter began to walk toward Jesus, but became overwhelmed with fear and began to sink. Through this event, Jesus further revealed the unlimited realm of faith available to anyone who was willing to believe. He made it clear to Peter that doubt is the only limitation we are faced with. If we will step out beyond the limitations of a “little faith”, and allow the Spirit of God to develop our faith, then the things of the natural realm will not cause us to be overwhelmed with doubt. An increase in faith is not something that will happen independent of our willingness to participate with God, but is the act of obedience to His Word. As we step out in obedience to the Word, faith comes to give us a divine ability to function in the miracle realm of Jesus. At first, we may find ourselves only able to move a few steps beyond our doubt as we set out to imitate Jesus, but God will perfect those things that concern us and cause faith to increase in our lives. Faith is strengthened by use, and God will make sure it is so refined and purified that not only will all things be possible, but our faith will also be found unto praise, honor, and glory (1 Peter 1:7).
