Email from Abiding Place Daily Bread – March 20, 2025 (The Fifth Day – Genesis 1:20-23) Philippians 3:9 – And being found in Him, not having my own righteousness from the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, righteousness by the faith from God. The Righteousness of God’s Redemption The first man Adam was born under the reign and rule of God. He was created out of the goodness and love of the Heavenly Father. God placed the man in a Heaven on Earth and everything there was an expression of God’s goodness. It would be the place where the man and his family would grow and develop in relationship with God. The one created in the image and likeness of God was given rule over all God had made upon the Earth. His rule and authority would extend to all that would come forth out of his own body. He was given charge over all the works of God’s hands and given the responsibility for the care and well being of everything there. Although everything that God had given Adam was good, still he disobeyed and did that which God had forbidden. When he disobeyed God, he died spiritually and handed over the rulership of his life to sin and death. At that moment, Adam entered into another world altogether. Adam and all of His descendants entered into a world ruled by the prince and the power of the air, the God of this world, the spirit that works in the children of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2; Romans 5:12-21). God in His love and mercy would not leave all humanity as the eternal prisoners of sin and death. He would provide a way back into the family once again. God would provide a way for us to enter back into His Kingdom and live in a world ruled by His love and grace (Colossians 1:13). He promised a Seed of the woman would come, the One Who would destroy the power of sin and death. When the Seed Christ Jesus came, He showed us the manner of life God intended for all humanity to live. Jesus walked out the life of perfect obedience to the Father and demonstrated the ultimate expression of the love of God. As the sinless Lamb of God, He offered up His life for the redemption of all humanity. Through God’s great plan of redemption the life of Jesus would become our life too. His righteousness would be our righteousness. His obedience would become our obedience. Through Him, God not only offered the provision to remove the sin and death, but a means to forgive any transgressions that might be committed. Blessings, Pastor Mark Spitsbergen
