Daily Bread 3/9/2022

Daily Bread – March 9, 2022 (The Fourth Day – Genesis 1:14-19) 1 John 5:18 – We know that everyone that is begotten of God, sins not; but the one begotten of God keeps himself, and the Evil One cannot touch him. John makes all acts of sin a participation and agreement with the devil. The first time John indicated that sin was a participation with the devil was in chapter three, “He that commits sin is of the devil”(1 John 3:8). John puts forth all sin as the antithesis of righteousness, even as darkness is the antithesis of light, lie of truth, death of life, and Satan the antithesis of God. Those who are born of God will not continue to practice sin. If they do, John categorically places them in alliance with the demonic. Jesus had said to John and the others that were with him, “You will tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all of the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you” (Luke 10:19). Christ Jesus has given us an authority in Himself that is far above all principalities and powers (Ephesians 1:21-22, 2:6). Although fleshly lust is at war against us in a struggle against spiritual wickedness, we are given the strength of the Lord and the power of His might to walk even as He walked and overcome even as He overcame (1 Peter 2:11; Ephesians 6:10-12; 1 John 2:6, 13-14; Revelation 3:21).
