Daily Bread – May 15, 2024 (The Fourth Day – Genesis 1:14-19) John 6:56 – He who eats of My flesh and drinks of My blood dwells in Me, and I in him. Jesus, Our Life & Ability The Father sent Jesus, and He lived by the Father, so now those who will receive the miracle of salvation will live by Jesus, just as He lived by the Father. The Lord Jesus revealed this all in the context of the people asking Him for a sign. He compared Who He was to the manna in the wilderness, but revealed how He was the true bread that brought the very life of God into our lives. Just as they depended on manna to live, we depend on Him for His life. The partaking of the life of Jesus could have not been given in stronger terms than to refer to His life as His flesh and blood – a terminology already established in the First Covenant to describe the life of the soul (Leviticus 17:11). Until we have this union with Christ, we are dead in our trespasses and sins. When we are joined unto Him, we have His life, eternal life! As we give ourselves to dwelling in Him and recognizing how He also dwells in us, we understand we live by His life presence. We grow and mature in knowing He not only supplies the life, but also the power God desires to be revealed through our lives. We come to fully recognize how He is not only our Savior and life giver, but also our ability and power. When healing needs to take place, Christ Jesus is present to heal. We do not look to ourselves as the source of the miracle needing to be done, but rather we know the Miracle Worker is in us, and we are in Him and He will do the miracle through us even as the Father performed miracles through Jesus!
