1 Corinthians 6:20 You were bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

The Offering of Our Lives to Jesus

The offering of our lives to Jesus has to be more than just a notion of us coming under His protection and being beneficiaries of His favor and blessings. The offering of our lives to Jesus must include a sincere heart that relinquishes claims on all which we have had power over, and to now live according to His desires and plans (Luke 9:23, 22:42; Matthew 6:10). How much of our everyday lives should be interrupted? How much of our decisions should be dictated by the Master; and how much are we on our own to do whatever we desire?

Without question we know that we are to be conformed to the image of the Son (Romans 8:29; Ephesians 4:13). We have been given the life of Christ Jesus to live His life (Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:1-4). We are to walk in the Spirit, live in the Spirit, and be led by the Spirit (Galatians 5:25; Romans 8:4,14). We are to do the Father’s will and not our own, and live in the abundant life He has given us (Matthew 7:21; John 10:10). Of course, because this abundant life is far better than the life we had in the world, it certainly is not a sacrifice! However, there is probably nothing more necessary than to examine the difference between our will and His will, specifically, the pursuit of our own self-interest verses that of living in total abandonment and wholly for the Master. What will be revealed from such an honest evaluation, above all else, is the necessity of removing ourselves from any and all cooperation, or mixture, with what is worldly (James 4:4; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 John 1:5-7, 2:15-17; Ephesians 5:1-21).
