Daily Bread - July 20, 2026 (The Second Day - Genesis 1:6-8)
Hebrews 12:14 - Pursue peace with everyone, and the holiness without which no one shall see the Lord.
Holiness Is Essential
If we desire to see the Lord, then we must be willing to have our hearts made pure and accept holiness as our state of being (Matthew 5:8; 1 Timothy 1:15; Ephesians 4:24; 2 Corinthians 5:17,21). The Psalmist said, “Who shall ascend into the mountain of the Lord, or who shall stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart…” (Psalms 24:3-4). The only way we can draw near to the Lord is with a true heart in full assurance of the faith (Hebrews 10:22).
We cannot enter into the realm called the Holiest of Holies where God dwells if we have a defiled conscience and consider ourselves unholy. We must be willing to accept the miracle of a transformed heart and nature. We must allow Jesus to dress us in the holy garments of His righteousness and holiness even as Moses dressed Aaron in preparation to enter into that holy realm. If we do not accept the good news of our hearts having been purified and made new by the Spirit of God through the blood of Jesus, then we will not see God now, or in the future. God petitions us to take the redemption that imparts the life and holiness of God into our beings by the blood of Jesus, and come into the Holiest of Holies with all boldness (Hebrews 10:19).
