Email from Abiding Place     Daily Bread – February 5, 2025 (The Fourth Day – Genesis 1:14-19) Ephesians 6:17 – And receive the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the proclamation of God’s Word. The Proclamation of the Word of God is the Word of Faith The proclamation of the Word of God is the Word of faith, and is the sword of the Spirit in our mouths. In Romans 10:8, we read of the ‘rhema pisteos’ (“word of faith”); and then in Ephesians 6:17, ‘rhema Theou’ (“Word of God”). The related verse in Deuteronomy serves to emphasize the connection between the Word of God and the word of faith (God’s spoken Word in our mouth). The Lord told Israel that the Word He had spoken to them was to be continually in their mouth, so they would do it (Deuteronomy 30:10-14). God said He would give us His Spirit and put His Word in our mouths, so His Word would not depart out of our mouths (Isaiah 59:21). Those who are committed to doing all God has commanded must not let the Word depart out of their mouths – but instead, continually speak it (Joshua 1:8; Psalms 119:11; Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:18-19). The words the Lord has put in our mouth are the words that have proceeded from the mouth of God (Deuteronomy 8:3). God has written His words in our minds and on the tables of our heart so we might speak them and do them (Hebrews 8:10, 10:16; 2 Corinthians 3:3; Jeremiah 31:33; Luke 6:45). By the Word of God and the Spirit of God, faith comes to us. When we speak the Word of God by the Spirit of God, it is the word of faith! Faith is activated by speaking the Word of God – by acknowledging every good thing that is in us, and then following through with obedience (Philemon 1:6). When we believe in our heart the things God has spoken, we speak with our mouth, and with the confession of our mouth we are saved (Romans 10:10; Matthew 12:37). We must hold fast to the confession of our faith if we are going to realize all of the blessings God has for us (Hebrews 10:23). Blessings, Pastor Mark Spitsbergen
