Email from Abiding Place     Daily Bread – April 1, 2025 (The Third Day – Genesis 1:9-13) John 6:56 – He who eats of My flesh and drinks of My blood dwells in Me, and I in him. Mutual Indwelling With Jesus Jesus said, come and dwell in me (John 15:4). God has done a wonderful thing for us through Christ Jesus – He has come to dwell in us! He not only dwells in us, but we also dwell in Him. Now, Christ Jesus presents us to the Father with His righteousness and His holiness. In fact, the whole of our lives and existence is found in Him. We are not only presented to the Father in Him, but He also now dwells in us and His righteousness and Holiness flows out of us as we yield to Him. Just as Christ Jesus dwells in the Father and the Father dwells in Him, He dwells in us and we dwell in Him (John 14:20,23, 17:22-23). He likens this mutual indwelling to a branch dwelling in a vine. As the branch draws its life from the vine, even so, we draw our life from Christ Jesus. We cannot do anything without Him, but if we continue to dwell in Him, we bring forth the fruits of His life (John 15:1-8). Jesus made this mutual indwelling possible through the sacrifice of Himself for our sins. Through the giving of His Own life on the cross, He destroyed the power of sin and death, and cleansed us with His Own blood. He purified us from all iniquity and gave us a new life in Himself (Titus 2:14). The invitation now exists for all to come and dwell in Him (John 15:4). He offered up His life to make this possible. He gave His body and His blood so we might live by Him. As the Bread of Life, His body became our spiritual food. His blood was given to us as a spiritual drink so His life might dwell in us. The communion each person may have results in a mutual indwelling with Jesus (John 6:56, 14:20,23, 15:1-7, 17:21-23; 1 John 3:24, 4:15-16; Ephesians 5:30; 1 Corinthians 12:27).
