Email from Abiding Place Daily Bread – August 1, 2025 (The Sixth Day – Genesis 1:24-31) Mark 1:27 – And they were all astonished, so they were asking each other, saying, “What is this? What new doctrine of authority is it that even the unclean spirits obey Him?” The authority of Jesus expressed the reality that the Kingdom of God had invaded the territory of Satan (Matthew 12:28). There had never been such an authority seen before, that with a word devils were cast out and the sick were cured (Matthew 8:16). When Jesus stepped into the world, the reign of Satan began to come to an end. The authority of Jesus was such that no power of the devil could put up the least amount of resistance. While the scribes were running around preaching everyone else’s sermons and had absolutely no witness of the authority and power of God in their lives, Jesus was speaking directly from Heaven, and commanding men and devils to listen. Today, wherever the authority of Jesus Christ is being expressed, the same results are observed. Jesus has been given all authority in Heaven and Earth, and every evil spirit must obey the authority of His supreme and absolute rule (Matthew 28:18; Colossians 2:15; Ephesians 6:10-12; Mark 16:17; Acts 8:7, 19:12; Ephesians 1:21; Philippians 2:9). Jesus did not die and go to Heaven. He rose from the dead – with greater power and authority than He had when He did all of these miracles we read about in the Gospels (John 7:39; Acts 2:33, 4:10, 5:30-32; Ephesians 1:20; Hebrews 1:3). He has commissioned each one of us to walk in His authority and power so we might be witnesses of Him and to His resurrection (Acts 1:8, 4:33, 6:8; Luke 24:49; 1 Corinthians 2:4-5; 1 Thessalonians 1:5; Romans 6:4).
