Colossians 3:15 – And let the peace of God rule your heart, into which you are also called into one body; and be thankful.
The Greek word ‘brabeuo’ means “to act as an umpire.” This gives us insight into understanding how the Holy Spirit communicates to us through the fruits of the Spirit. Peace may be considered one of the ways the Holy Spirit guides our decisions. God has in no way taken our decision making process away from us; but rather, acts as an umpire to guide the process. If we are willing to be sensitive and obedient, God will teach us to make the kind of decisions that He makes! One important aspect of remaining sensitive to the Holy Spirit is to keep your affections on things above, not on things of this world (Colossians 3:1-4; Mark 12:30; Matthew 6:20-33; Hebrews 12:1-2).
