Daily Bread – October 25, 2023 (The Fourth Day – Genesis 1:14-19) Ephesians 6:16 – In everything taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked. Fiery Darts Quenched By The Shield Faith The arrows of the wicked are aimed at the heart and mind to distort the truth and to turn men away from the ways and doctrines of God. The faith that comes by the Word of God puts out every lie that would lead a person to believe something different than what God has forever settled in Heaven – His Word. His Word declares to us all He has done for us, all He is to us, and all He has made us to be in Him. The shield of faith ensures everything God has promised will be realized in our lives and nothing will be able to harm us. The shield of faith is the Word of God in our hearts and in our mouths. It’s declaring those things God has spoken and remaining unmovable in what He has promised. The faith that flows to us by the Spirit supplies an intimate fellowship with God which fills us to the full so there is room for nothing else. This fellowship is to be like a wellspring that satisfies every thirst of the soul so nothing else is desired. The fellowship with God should be to us as a mighty stream flowing into us from the presence of the Lord, and as His rivers of the Spirit flowing out of our beings. God wants us to allow His presence to be a shield about us – a shield all around us! His presence will be as a fire that surrounds us by baptism into Himself. God desires us to live in the fire of His glory through this fellowship He has been given to us by baptism into the Holy Spirit.
