Email from Abiding Place     Daily Bread – April 29, 2025 (The Third Day – Genesis 1:9-13) John 14:16 – And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Paraclete, Who will remain with you forever. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit to Us and Through Us The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to reprove men of sin because they have not believed in the only One Who can take away their sin. Yet, those who have believed, He convinces that all our sins are washed away. The Holy Spirit convinces men of righteousness because Jesus has ascended to the right hand of the Father. There, He presents us in Himself to the Father. Having ascended to the Father, He has poured out the Holy Spirit, Who is now in us. Thus, righteousness is established only in Christ Jesus – established for us by our heavenly intercessor, Christ Jesus, and established in us by the working of the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 45:24; 1 Corinthians 1:30). The ministry of the Holy Spirit also exposes the reality of Satan’s defeat and the defeat of any authority he once had over the life of those who put their trust in Christ Jesus, in every case causing men to know that Jesus is the Savior of the world (Romans 6:12-22; Colossians 1:13, 2:15). This same Jesus “Whom you have crucified is both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). He is the Judge of both the living and the dead. We must also appreciate how the ministry of the Holy Spirit to convince of sin, righteousness, and judgment is also the ministry of all those who preach the Gospel by the Holy Spirit Who has come down out of Heaven (1 Peter 1:12-13; Acts 24:25; Hebrews 6:1-2; 1 Timothy 5:20). The full scope of the meaning of this ministry of the Holy Spirit is found in the way Jesus preached, and therefore, the way we are to minister by the Holy Spirit. Blessings, Pastor Mark Spitsbergen
