Email from Abiding Place     Daily Bread – May 26, 2025 (The Second Day – Genesis 1:6-8) Acts 1:8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and unto the farthest reaches of the Earth. The Holy Spirit Given To The Church – The Ability He Gives Jesus is the head of the Church and the One Who administers everything concerning the Church. The administration of Jesus is carried out by the Holy Spirit. The first work of the Holy Spirit in the Church was to give everyone a new language – the language of the Spirit (Acts 2:4-33). The Holy Spirit would teach everyone how to speak with a heavenly authority. The Church would not be ruled or governed by men, but by the Holy Spirit. God the Father is head over all (John 16:15; 1 Corinthians 11:3, 12:5, 15:28). The Lord Jesus Christ is the Administrator (Ephesians 1:22, 4:11; 1 Corinthians 12:5), but all God is doing in the midst of the Church is supplied to us by the Holy Spirit (John 16:13-15). Those placed as “examples to the flock” are supposed to minister and teach by the ability which the Holy Spirit gives them (1 Peter 4:11, 5:3; 1 Corinthians 14:6). God’s servants are to speak as the oracles of God, by the Holy Spirit. The ones Christ Jesus placed as overseers in the Church are given special anointings by the Holy Spirit as Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers (Ephesians 4:10-11). They are to speak by the Holy Spirit through revelation, knowledge, prophesy, and doctrine (1 Corinthians 14:6; 1 Peter 4:11). They are to be the instruments of the Holy Spirit to make known the will of God so all can profit and be strengthened and perfected for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:12). Their commission is to speak only what the Holy Spirit would teach them to say (Luke 12:11-12, 14:26; John 16:15; 1 Peter 4:11). Blessings, Pastor Mark Spitsbergen
