Email from Abiding Place Daily Bread – June 12, 2025 (The Fifth Day – Genesis 1:20-23) John 7:37-39 – Now in the last great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drinkHe who believes in Me, just as the Scriptures said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” Now this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom they that believe in Him were about to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. The Greater the Flow, the Greater the Demonstration of Jesus Many desire to have the promises of the gifts of the Spirit, but fail to realize they come as a direct result of the flow of the Holy Spirit through our lives. All of the promises and blessings of God are in the context of the flow of the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. Many churches are barren of the gifts of the Spirit simply because they do not contend for the flow of the Holy Spirit in their meetings. All of the power and authority Jesus has given us is ours as we allow the Holy Spirit to flow out of us like rivers. Many wonder why they fall short of the promises of God in their lives, and ask, “Why are there not more miracles and works of power in our lives?” Many wonder why there are still so many who love the Lord Jesus but who are sick and diseased, which is contrary to the promises of God. However, they fail to consider their own personal response to the Holy Spirit. He has been given to us, but we must be willing to move with Him. The context of all of God’s New Testament promises and blessings is in light of the Holy Spirit coming to us and flowing out of us like rivers. The greater the flow of the Holy Spirit, the greater the demonstration of all of God’s gifts and the supply of all that has been given to us in Christ Jesus. The more we participate with Him, the greater His flow will be through our lives. It really comes down to this: if there is only a little flow, then there will only be a little demonstration of Holy Spirit power. If there is a little flow, there will only be little faith.
