Daily Bread 7/3/2024

Daily Bread – July 3, 2024 (The Fourth Day – Genesis 1:14-19) Revelation 1:6 – And has made us kings and priests to God and His Father; glory and might to Him for ever and ever. Amen. The idea of God’s people being a kingdom of priests and a holy nation is communicated in Exodus 19:6 and Isaiah 61:6. The same privilege is extended to those of the New Covenant, which of course fulfills rather than replaces the Old Covenant (1 Peter 2:5, 9; Matthew 5:17). Central to the New Testament is the fact the Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. God is called the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ three times in the New Testament (2 Corinthians 11:31; Ephesians 1:3; 1 Peter 1:3). Additionally, Jesus calls God His Father sixty-five times, and He is also called God’s Son sixty-nine times. Jesus is the eternal God, Who was both God and with God throughout eternity, Whom John referred to as the Word (John 1:1,14; Revelation 19:13). God created everything by Jesus Christ, Who Himself also was and is God (Ephesians 3:9; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:2). God the Word became the only begotten Son of God by being born of a woman to redeem all mankind making us kings and priests to God, and heirs and joint heirs with Himself (Romans 8:17).
