Daily Bread – September 8, 2023 (The Sixth Day – Genesis 1:24-31) Acts 8:25-29 – Then, when they (Peter & John) had borne witness and spoken the Word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem preaching the Gospel to many villages of the Samaritans. And an angel of the Lord spoke unto Philip saying, “Arise, and go down to the south on the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza which is desert.” And he got up and went, and behold a man – an Ethiopian eunuch, a ruler of Candice queen of Ethiopia, who was over all of her treasure who had come to worship in Jerusalem, who was returning, seated on his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah. And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and join that chariot.” The witness Peter and John bore in verse 25 was only possible through the baptism of the Holy Spirit they had received at Pentecost, “But you shall receive power after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me…” and “…but tarry in Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Acts 1:8; Luke 24:48). The apostles at Jerusalem had sent Peter and John to Samaria, but an angel of the Lord sent Philip to the Eunuch. Blessings, Pastor Mark Spitsbergen
